Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou would relish the opportunity to take over as Liverpool boss in the summer.

That is the view of talkSPORT pundit and ex-Reds winger Jermaine Pennant, who believes Postecoglou is the right man to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp's bombshell interview in January shocked the footballing world as he announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso was heavily-linked with taking over, although he looks set to remain with the Bundesliga side for at least one more season.

Both Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim are now considered frontrunners for the role, while Julian Nagelsmann is also in contention.

However, Pennant wants Liverpool to raid their Premier league rivals for Postecoglou.

"I would like to see [Ange] Postecoglou there," Pennant told Jason Cundy on the Sports Bar.

"He's probably in the conversation. The way Spurs were to the way they are now is night and day - and that is credit to him.

"I think if Liverpool came knocking on the door and said, 'Here you go, mate, get yourself in, Klopp's going', I think he'd be jumping ship.

"The reason I am saying that is because Liverpool will always be fighting for silverware, the Champions League, and the Premier League.

"If Liverpool come knocking, I think he is jumping ship. Why would you not manage a better team?

"And you are guaranteed to be in the mix of winning silverware. I would like to see Postecoglou there."

It remains to be seen who will replace Liverpool's German at the end of the season.

Many believe they are big shoes to fill, but Klopp insists there is still plenty more to achieve at Anfield.

Speaking earlier this month, he said: "I really think it is the perfect moment for a new manager and not the wrong one because we didn't win everything, we left spaces."

Klopp added: "Go at City after Pep Guardiola and you need to be champion 10 years in a row to achieve the same! Maybe it was good for that reason that we didn't become champion with 97 points."
