Nottingham Forest fans react as playmaker pens four-and-a-half-year contract extension

Nottingham Forest playmaker Joe Lolley has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract extension at the City Ground

Nottingham Forest announced on Thursday afternoon that winger Joe Lolley had signed a new contract with the club, keeping him at the City Ground until the summer of 2023. The Championship side announced the news on their Twitter page (see below):

Lolley has been in fine form for Forest so far this season, standing out throughout the first half of the season. In 30 Championship appearances, the former Huddersfield man has scored seven and assisted eight goals.

He has been at the centre of transfer speculation due to his strong form throughout this season. Prior to the January window, a host of Premier League sides including Newcastle and Fulham were linked with moves. As recently as last week, it was reported that Aston Villa were considering a summer move for Lolley, but now that he has signed a long-term contract, they will have to stump up some serious cash.

After making his name at non-league side Littleton F.C. – where he scored a stunning 88 goals in 83 games –  Lolley moved to Kidderminster Harriers after a successful trial period. He moved on to Huddersfield Town halfway through the 2013/2014 season, where he then went on to spend four years, making 91 appearances and scoring 11 goals.

On deadline day of the January transfer window last year, Lolley switched to Championship side Nottingham Forest on a four and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old is thoroughly enjoying his time at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest fans are over the moon with the news and will be hoping that under the new management of Martin O’Neill, Lolley can continue his strong form to fire Forest into the play-offs.
